This book has 3 chapters: the first centers the attention to the Greek democracy; the second focuses on the great 17th-century philosopher Baruch Spinoza, who was the first to re-propose the model of democracy as desirable in the modern era compared to monarchies or oligarchies. Finally, the third chapter addresses the complex problem of freedom of expression in the contemporary world, where truth and lies, science and post-truth intertwine; in these complex circumstances, democracy must allow citizens freedom of expression while maintaining the ongoing pursuit of collective interests.
